Hello! My name is Neil and I'm a bear-aholic.
I really love teddy bears of all shapes, sizes and material. I have stuffed ones, paper ones, wood ones, and glass ones. A few of them are collector's items but most of them are just bears I saw and couldn't keep from buying. They're just so huggable and loveable! How can you say no when you come across one that just cries out to go home with you?
My obsession with bears didn't start until I was in my teens. My favorite bear is one that my mom got me for Christmas when I was 16. That's him in the picture. I named him Scotty because he had a Scottish hat on his head (my boyfriend at the time was named Scott, which may have also had something to do with the name). Not to be outdone, Scott bought me a giant four foot stuffed panda that was nearly as tall as me! It is long gone, a victim of too much loving from little kids and storage in the 'box' room.
Owning bears wasn't enough, though, and I started creating bears in my early 20s. You can read more about that under bear making. I've created many, many bears over the last several years using other people's patterns. You can find some of the books I got my patterns from on the books and more tab.
My daughter has picked up on my love for stuffed critters and their bedroom is filled with a wide assortment of stuffed animals, including many bears, but mostly penguins and, now, owls. Many of them were made by me and have a special play in their heart.
